It is about copyright. What is the definition of copyright, function, and what kind of creations that can get copyright?

Definition of copyright
Well, about the definition of copyright, it is basically a legal right that belongs to the owner of intellectual property. If we want a simple one, copyright is basically a right to copy or reproduce a work, product, or creation. Copyright belongs not just to the owner of intellectual property but for anyone who is given authorization by the original maker or the owner of intellectual property. It means people with the given right could reproduce the work as well.

The function of copyright
Getting a copyright for your original work is necessary. It is not just to avoid getting a bootleg version of it, but you basically receive protection from the government. In other words, when you find that your product got bootlegged by someone that doesn’t have your authorization, you can sue them under the law. Also, if your intellectual property were stolen on purpose, you can demand compensation to the one who bootlegged your intellectual property. About copyright, it gives you a lot of benefits, right?
What kind of works are you able to receive a copyright?
There are many kinds of works, intellectual properties, or creations that are able to receive copyright protection from the government. They are:
- Works related to arts. For example, paintings and sculptures. Actually, it is more than just a painting or sculpture. Even traditional art such as batik can receive protection from being bootlegged from the government. What makes them able to receive copyright is because the process of making art needs an idea, which comes from our head as an intellectual being.
- Works related to literature. For example, books or other things that are written, like flyers/pamphlets and translation. Making a literary work needs an idea, which is from our intellectual ability. This makes literature works able to receive copyright protection.
